School Report Card
Letter from the Principal
Dear Parents and Friends of Poplin Elementary School,
Welcome to the 2025-2026 school year! As you are aware, we provide regular updates to you about your student's academic progress by sending home report cards and monthly newsletters. In addition, you can join the Poplin School Community Hub for all the information about Poplin! North Carolina also updates parents once a year through the North Carolina School Report Card. This Report Card includes important information about school and student performance, class sizes, attendance, school safety, instructional resources, and teacher quality.
At Poplin Elementary, we recognize students for their academic success, provide quality professional development for teachers, and create a school culture that is safe, supportive, and academically stimulating for our students. Our focus is on continuous improvement cycles and professional learning communities. At Poplin Elementary we work together to create a learning environment that is safe, inviting, and secures the success of all students.
With a dedicated faculty and staff, we are implementing components of the elementary school concept to expose students to activities that are developmentally responsive, academically rigorous, and socially equitable. 1st-5th grade students and all staff are sorted into four houses: Reveur, Isibindi, Amistad, and Altruismo. The House System creates a positive climate and culture for all stakeholders. It will allow Poplin to implement processes that build character, relationships and school spirit. We are 4 Houses = 1 Family!
Poplin Elementary continues its focus on global education with our partnership with Participate. We provide the Dual Language Immersion in grades K-5. This year, we have visiting teachers representing the countries of Colombia, Honduras, Panama and Spain. Students in these classes receive their daily academic instruction in Spanish and communicate with each other and their teachers in Spanish. By the time students leave at the end of fifth grade, they will be fluent Spanish speakers.
At Poplin, your involvement is very important to the success of our school. I encourage you to review our NC Report Card carefully. Feel free to contact me directly to discuss any questions or concerns you may have regarding the NC Report Card. I also welcome your feedback regarding other interests you have in our school. We appreciate your support in our efforts to provide your child with a high-quality education.
